Why I read with my kids

One of the saddest things my dad told me in the past year was he could no longer read books because he couldn’t remember what he read on the previous page. I credit my dad as the person who taught me to love books because he was always reading a book and would suggest books that were beyond my ability but it pushed me to read and ask questions.

I loved that when I got older, I was able to share the books I enjoyed with him and sometimes we even agreed and when we didn’t agree it was still a good discussion.
